While we can't have our traditional Egg Hunt this year, we CAN still have some fun with the kids! Similar to the "shamrock" hunt we did for St.  Patrick's Day, we are going to do a window-themed "Egg Hunt" for Easter. Here's how it's going to go:
  1. Print one or more of the Easter egg printable pages
  2. Color, paint, or decorate as many "eggs" as you'd like
  3. Post the eggs in the windows of your home by Friday, April 10th
  4. Print an "Easter egg hunt" page for each family member
  5. Walk around the neighborhood looking for "eggs" in windows
  6. Each time you find an egg color it on your egg hunt page
>>>> Grab your printable here: EASTER EGG HUNT PRINTABLE <<<<
Have fun with this! Thanks so much to CW resident Stefanie Jacobs for finding this, and for Ashley Swistak for helping pull it together!

Caroling at Southminster - all spots filled!
Thank you to those who signed up to spread some holiday cheer at Southminster!! All 25 spots are filled, and we are ready to spread some cheer!
On Wednesday, December 20 from 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm the children of Cameron Wood who signed up will be caroling through the halls of Southminster and wishing our neighbors a happy holiday. Along with their parents, the children will spend 10 to 15 minutes singing the following five Christmas carols in three "neighborhoods" within the community: “Deck the Halls”, “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer”, “Jingle Bells”, “Silent Night” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
To further spread holiday cheer, carolers are encouraged to dress in festive attire to really bring holiday spirit to our elder neighbors. We hope the children of Cameron Wood will enjoy this opportunity to give back during the holiday season and bring cheer to the residents of Southminster.
Our "guide to giving," all in one place
CW is a big-hearted neighborhood! We are proud to have so many residents taking part in charities and fundraisers during the holidays. To keep things organized, we will be putting a list of them all in a single post on our CW Blog. This makes an easy reference for residents looking to give, and at the same time will prevent too many emails and messages hitting our inboxes (who needs more of those?!).
If you have a charity or fundraiser you'd like us to list and share, please email me at We'll be adding to it and sharing it throughout the season.
We've made our website more user-friendly!
With the addition of our CW Blog and other new web features, we want to be sure residents can access the information easily and that our site is user-friendly. For this reason, we've removed the log-in prompts from many of our pages.
We have more new web features rolling out in the New Year, so stay tuned!
Staying safe during the holiday season
As we approach the holiday season of good times and giving, there are several other details we want to be sure not to overlook. For lots of great information and tips on holiday crime prevention, see the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Newsletter on our website.

It's getting lively in Cameron Wood! With the slight chill in the air (well, last week, anyway) and the sound of leaves crunching, we are lining up activities and can't wait to celebrate FALL! You can expect our paper Newsletter in your mailbox next week, but in the meantime, here are some events coming up:
It's time for brats, beer, and fun! Our annual and much-anticipated OKTOBERFEST is happening on Saturday, October 14th at the CW ball field. See the details above. We hope to see you there!
Grab your little ghouls and bring them on over to the CW Clubhouse parking lot on Sunday, October 29th. Kids of all ages can come and decorate a mini-pumpkin just in time for Halloween. Pumpkins, decorations and a small snack will be provided for all neighborhood kids in attendance.

If you have any questions or would like to help with the CW Children's Committee, contact Ashley Swistak at:
The annual adult Halloween party will be at the CW Clubhouse on 10/28/17. For more information, go here: CW Adult Halloween Party
Mark your calendars for trick-or-treating! On Monday, October 30th from 4-5 pm Southminster has invited school-age children from Cameron Wood to participate in their Trick or Treating event.
It’s preferably for elementary school kids, but middle school children can also come as long as they have a parent with them and have their costumes on. Guests will enter at the front door and there will be residents throughout the community offering treats for the kids. It’s a great way to celebrate Halloween and spread some joy at Southminster.
BOO Your Neighbors!
What is all this talk of "BOO"ing your neighbors?! It's a fun way to surprise your friends and get in the Halloween spirit. Many thanks to CW resident Elizabeth Corcoran for breaking it down for us in this blog post. She also made a great point on our CW Facebook page: it doesn't have to be just for kids! You can make an adult "BOO" package with some spooky spirits, too. Read the original blog post, here: BOO Your Neighbors

Today we are featuring a guest post from resident Elizabeth Corcoran about a fun activity taking place in our neighborhood during the month of October. Want to play?? Read on!
As we move into October, I am reminded by my children that Halloween is a time for Tricks and LOTS of Treats.  Last year we heard our doorbell ring, but when we answered we didn't find anyone.  The only thing that was left behind were some fun and tasty treats with a note saying we had been "Booed".  My children and I thought it was so special to receive an anonymous bag of treats from a friend in the neighborhood, but we were even more excited to go "BOO" some of our other neighborhood friends.
Over the next two days we planned our Booing.  First, we decided who we wanted to Boo, then we went and picked out all the special treats for our friends, and lastly (the most exciting part for a toddler)...we snuck up to our friends house as stealthy as a two year old could, sat the treats on their front porch, rang the bell and then RAN and hid so we could watch their surprise when they saw they had been BOOED!!!!!
I had never heard of this neighborhood game before, much less participated in it, but now that I have children the fun has begun!  If you haven't been booed before, I'll explain how it works so you aren't alarmed if this happens to you.  Here's how it works and what you'll need to get the game started:
  1. Print out a "You've been booed" sign or poem to include in your bag of treats AND a "We've been Booed" sign for your friend to put in their window after they've been booed.  You can find these free printables all over the internet or you can design one yourself.
  2. Make a treat bag for your friends. This can include Halloween themed items, toys, games, candy, stickers, whatever you think your friends will enjoy.
  3. Place the two "You've been booed" and "We've been Booed" signs in the treat bag.
  4. Let the fun begin and play sneak-a-boo at your neighborhood friend's house.  Make sure they haven't already been booed by looking for the "We've been booed" sign hanging on their front door.  If all is clear, you'll hang the treat bag on their door knob, ring the bell, and then run!
*Please be courteous to your neighborhood friends and only "boo" those that you think will enjoy this fun game.  If you have been booed, do not feel obligated to participate but you may want to hang the "we've been booed" sign up so that you aren't booed again. Lastly, when ringing doorbells of friends please be mindful of little ones bedtimes; before dark is probably okay for most friends.
