Garbage Cans: Should be placed at the curb (and away from your mailbox) no earlier than dusk on Tuesday and should be removed from the curb by dusk on Wednesday. Garbage cans that are left on the street make it dirricult for the postal workers, newspaper, UPS and Fed Ex deliveries.  They are also unsightly and greatly decrease community curb appeal. During the rest of the week, the cans should not be visible from the street. Please put them out of sight from the street and from your next door neighbors. Questions? Call 704-336-2673.More information on garbage pickup can be found at www.CharMeck.org.

Getting Rid of Your Junk:  Everyone has junk. There's the worn-out sofa, the rusted tricycle, an old lamp with a broken base and the non-functioning microwave that are all taking up space in your home or garage? So just what are you going to do with all the unwanted items? Schedule a bulky item collection.  Items such as household furnishings, appliances, lawn equipment and other similar items too large to be placed in the rollout cart are considered bulky items. These items must be scheduled for collection.  To schedule a bulky item collection:

Call 311 or 704-336-7600
Schedule it online at http://curbit.charmeck.org
Please do not place items curbside until the day before the scheduled collection. Items at the curb more 24 hours before the scheduled collection could result in a fine of at least $50. For more information, including a full list of bulky items and preparation guidelines, visit http://curbit.charmeck.org
